Prior to or immediately after joining the military Our program walks you through the documents you should have in place for yourself or your service members. We provide a financial education to help you/your service member set goals and allocate income while in service. During your service Completing your free financial needs analysis as early as possible helps you lay the groundwork for setting and reaching your financial goals. Ensure the proper protection is in place for you and your family after separation/retirement as well as, if the unexpected occurs. 18 Months out from Retirement or Separation Our goal is to educate you on the options when it comes to replacing your life insurance (SGLI) and the importance of doing so prior to any VA appointments and receiving your rating. We assist you with a free Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) to set financial goals for yourself/your family upon completion of your service. 12 Months out from Retirement or Separation This is the ideal time to take action to on your life insurance replacement – we will work with you to do so, within the financial goals you have set. 6 Months out from Retirement or Separation The priority during this time is to get your VA process started, working with a resource that can help you navigate the system efficiently. 3 Months out from Retirement or Separation At this point all VA appointments should be completed and you need to be checking with your admin shop to confirm that all documentation had been completed for your retirement paperwork. Active Duty Pre-Separation 1-3 Months following Retirement or Separation Congratulations, you have successfully completed your separation. Now is the time to update status in DEERS for you and your dependents. In addition, you will want to register with your local VA – DD214 in hand and obtain a new ID card. You will then want to contact TRICARE and select the plan you want moving forward; Select or Prime. Finally, it’s time to roll over your TSP account! Already Retired/Separated There are important processes to complete at this time – obtaining a copy of your DD214, verifying your TSP account reflects your separated status and that your status in DEERS shows as separated/retired. Schedule an appointment with us to complete your post separation/retirement Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) to update your financial plan. This will help guide us in rolling over your TSP account and review the life insurance options that are available, if needed. Post-Separation Here are some additional resources for you.
